Abstract : The application of pearlescent ink in wrapping paper printing was discussed from the perspective of the composition, blending and application of pearlescent ink, and the precautions for the use of pearlescent ink were described. The recent development of pearlescent ink was reviewed and its prospect was foreseen. Gao Tan has broad application prospects in packaging printing. Pearlescent printing is becoming more and more popular in packaging paper printing because of its remarkable application effect. Pearlescent ink has the incomparable characteristics of gold and silver inks, because pearlescent printing has a vivid visual effect, which will change the eye-catching colors under the sunlight, and thus it can be widely applied to substrates such as paper, plastic, and metal, especially in Cosmetics, advanced soaps, invitations, birthday cards, etc. Pearlescent ink is a volatile dry ink. After printing, it needs to be dried with a drying rack. Therefore, it is essentially different from Uv ink. Since many companies such as DuPont of the United States and Toyota of Japan have successively introduced titanium dioxide-coated mica pearlescent pigments to replace high-cost natural pearlescent pigments and toxic synthetic pearlescent pigments, the application fields have become more and more widespread, and thus the process and its development direction The discussion is particularly important "3-4." In the paper, the application and development prospects of pearlescent ink in the packaging paper printing industry are discussed from the perspective of the process and its application. 1 The composition of pearlescent ink Pearlescent inks generally consist of pearlescent pigments, binders, auxiliaries, solvents, thickeners, and the like. 1.1 Pearlescent pigment Pearlescent pigments are decorative pigments such as natural angular flakes, barium oxychloride, lead hydrogen arsenate, basic lead carbonate, and multilayered metal oxide coated mica. The use of pearlescent pigments for the formulation of printing inks has a particularly prominent printing effect. Printed products can produce a unique three-dimensional effect. 1.2 Links The binder is the key to the adhesion of the pearlescent pigment on the substrate. Its choice has a great influence on the rheology, viscosity, dryness and adaptability of the ink. Natural resins and synthetic resins such as acrylates, polyamides, vinyls, nail shell extracts, nuclear bomb powder derivatives, and styrene-acrylic emulsions, silicones, and epoxy resins can be used as the binder. However, depending on the physical properties of the resin, it depends on the different uses and substrates. 1.3 Additives In the manufacture or use of ink, a small amount of material can be adjusted to have certain properties "5". The following are several common additives. 1.3.1 Ink transfer Its role is to adjust the viscosity of the ink, such as resin varnish, which is a synthetic resin that adjusts the viscosity or consistency of the ink. Varnish is oil that increases surface smoothness and gloss after overprinting on printed matter. 1.3.2 White oil An emulsifying diluting agent containing a large amount of moisture. 1.3.3 Thinner Material used to reduce ink viscosity or consistency. 1.3.4 Detackifier Refers to the material added to the ink to reduce the viscosity or viscosity. 1.3.5 Thickeners Material used to increase the ink consistency.
