Cai Jinyan was determined to develop an automatic detection device similar to a point-and-shoot camera, to make equipment fault detection simple, intelligent, scientific and accurate, so that army officers and soldiers can learn to use it.

She first attacked the problem of typical radar fault diagnosis. The key to this project is to use VXI bus test technology to quickly collect fault information and determine the fault location after comprehensive analysis.

At that time, this technology had just emerged internationally, and only one or two units in China were in the research stage. Cai Jinyan led the research team to learn the principles of technology, collected more than a thousand copies of relevant domestic and foreign materials, translated more than 800,000 words of foreign academic papers, used holidays to ask experts at Tsinghua University, wrote more than 500,000 program codes, designed Thousands of circuit drawings.

On one occasion, in order to find out the trend caused by a certain component failure, Cai Jinyan stared at the computer screen continuously for days and nights like a demon. After countless days and nights, Cai Jinyan and the members of the research team finally overcame all the difficulties and conquered the difficulties, and completed the "General Radar Equipment Support Project", "General Equipment Electronic System Comprehensive Detection Platform", and "Electronic Equipment Failure" Research on topics such as "prediction" has reduced the number of detected faults in the past from a large number of people to one person for a few hours, changing the situation that the support fleet is longer than the combat fleet during military exercises, which greatly improves our military equipment maintenance support capability and combat capability. .
