【Overview】 Analysis of the misunderstanding of the development and application of anilox technology

The ink transfer performance of the anilox roller is related to the engraving angle of the anilox roller, the volume of the ink cavity, the depth of the ink cavity, the number of anilox lines, and the cleaning conditions.

a. Ink hole carving angle

The surface of the anilox roller is composed of countless small concave holes of uniform size and uniform distribution, called ink holes, as shown in Figure 9. As the ink carrier, the ink cavity has the functions of storing ink and leveling ink, and can effectively overcome the phenomenon of flying ink under the condition of high-speed operation. The latest development of laser engraved anilox roller technology, the ink hole angle a is mainly 30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees, and 90 degrees, ink hole arrangement can be staggered or parallel to each other. Because the engraving process is controlled by computer, the anilox roller and its ink holes can be copied repeatedly. Some people abroad suggested that the engraving angle of the anilox ink hole should be 60 degrees.

b. Ink hole carving shape

Ink holes generally have oblique tooth shape, pyramid shape, pyramid shape and so on. As shown in Figure 10. The helical toothed anilox roller has a larger ink supply and is generally used for smearing. Modern laser engraved anilox rollers mostly use regular hexagonal openings. Practice has proved that this kind of regular hexagonal opening ink supply method can effectively avoid the generation of moiré (the printing plate can be produced with improper screen angle). Note, do not use symmetrical ink hole circular openings, because the area of the mesh wall between the ink holes of the circular ink hole opening increases (the convex portion on the anilox roller is called the mesh wall), which not only reduces the amount of ink supply, Moreover, the uniformity of ink transfer decreases.

c. Ink hole depth and width

The amount of ink transferred from the ink cavity to the printing plate is not only related to the performance of the ink, printing speed and other factors, but also to the ratio of the depth and width of the ink cavity, as shown in FIG. 11. Obviously, if the opening of the ink layer is narrow and deep, the ink at the bottom of the ink hole cannot be transferred, which reduces the transfer rate of ink in the ink hole to the printing plate, and is also not conducive to the cleaning of the anilox roller, which causes ink The hole is permanently blocked. Practice has proved that when the ratio R of ink hole opening width b and depth h is approximately equal to 0.28, the ink transfer is smooth.

Modern anilox rollers are generally made of laser-engraved ceramic rollers. Generally speaking, the higher the number of anilox lines, the shallower the ink cavity depth, and the ink cavity depth and width are measured in microns.

d. Anilox roller mesh line number and mesh line angle

The amount of ink transferred by the anilox roller is generally measured by the number of screen lines. The number of net lines refers to the number of ink holes carved within a centimeter. Generally speaking, the amount of ink supplied by the anilox roller decreases as the number of anilox lines increases. Practice has proved that to obtain high-quality printed products, the number of anilox rollers should maintain a certain proportional relationship with the number of screens plus screen lines, that is, the number of anilox rollers should generally be about 4 times the number of screen plus lines. For solid printing, if the anilox roller's screen number is too low, the ink supply is too large, and the edge of the printing plate is ghosted due to the accumulation of ink; if the screen number is too high, the ink supply is insufficient, and the solid density is not enough Hair flower. In actual work, the number of lines must be selected reasonably according to the amount of ink supplied.

There is no uniform rule for the screen angle of the anilox roller. Actual work shows that the more ideal screen line is 30 degrees and 60 degrees. However, the current application is 45 degrees. The angle of the screen line should be determined to reduce the moiré (turtle Pattern) is the basic principle.
