Since then, these photodetector detectors have been gradually replaced by photomultiplier tubes (PMTs), thereby greatly improving the efficiency of sample detection. However, the photomultiplier tube technology also has drawbacks. It can neither simultaneously obtain background correction information nor record the full spectrum information of the sample. The introduction of the solid-state detector array has greatly impacted the traditional DC arc spectroscopy system based on the PMT detector, because the solid-state detector technology has faster analysis capabilities and can permanently record the full spectrum information of the sample. The Prodigy DC arc spectrometer involved in this article uses the latest large-area programmed L-PAD detector, with full spectrum coverage, and also has real-time background correction, single-element multi-spectral line optional, timing analysis and other functions. Geological samples have the characteristics of poor conductivity, complex matrix, easy splashing, and low sample content, which have caused many difficulties in the development of analysis methods for such samples; if conventional digestion methods are used for analysis, there are great challenges. First of all, the digestion process is very complicated and takes a long time. In addition, it may also bring pollution during the digestion process.
