1.LED-UV curing device
LED is the abbreviation of Lighting Emitting Diode, which is "Light Emitting Diode". LED has many advantages such as low power consumption, long life, miniaturization, light weight, high responsiveness, high output and no mercury content. It is called "a trump card to solve environmental problems".
An LED-UV curing device that emits light in the near-ultraviolet band is used in the field of printing to replace a curing device using a mercury lamp, a halogen lamp, a sodium lamp, or the like. The illumination source of the LED-UV curing device used on the offset press consists of a row of high output illuminating LED-UV lamp micro-assemblies arranged without gaps.
At present, the illumination intensity of the LED-UV lamp is weaker than that of the conventional UV lamp, and the irradiation distance is short. The traditional UV lamp illumination distance is 150-300 mm, and the LED-UV lamp illumination distance is about 20 mm. Therefore, the LEDUV curing device illuminates the light source to a much smaller distance from the surface of the substrate. Generally, the distance between the conventional UV lamp and the surface of the substrate is 100 to 150 mm, and the distance between the illumination source of the LEDUV curing device and the surface of the substrate is 10 to 20 mm.
2. Advantages of LED-UV curing device
(1) The ink is instantly cured.
(2) It does not produce ozone and does not need to be equipped with exhaust pipes, which is conducive to environmental protection.
(3) The accessory equipment is small and compact.
(4) LED-UV lamp has a long service life (more than 10 times that of traditional UV lamp), low heat, can be ignited or extinguished instantly, no need to preheat, only turn on the light during printing, low power consumption (only traditional UV lamp 1/9), economical.
(5) Since the LED-UV curing device generates less heat, it is possible to prevent the non-heat-resistant substrate from being deformed, the paper is not lost in moisture deformation, the hand feeling is changed, and static electricity is not generated.
3. Problems and solutions for LED-UV curing devices
(1) When the printing speed is 16,000 sheets/hour, the distance between the LED-UV curing device and the paper is 15 mm, and for general paper, it is not problematic to ensure that the four-color overprinting ink is completely cured. However, when the paper thickness exceeds 0.3 mm, paper bending control measures are required due to the increase in paper stiffness, otherwise the paper may be dirty due to contact with the LED-UV curing device.
(2) Since the ink just printed is uneven, if it is cured instantaneously, the current state of the unevenness will remain, and the diffuse reflection of light will affect the gloss of the printed product. In order to ensure the gloss of the printed product, it is necessary to leave some time for the ink to level naturally, so that the paper receiving portion needs to be improved without adding the space of the paper receiving portion of the offset printing machine, and two rollers are added.
(3) LED-UV curing device needs to be specially used with LED-UV ink. At present, the price of this ink is high and not popular.
(4) The initial investment of offset presses equipped with LED-UV curing devices may be higher. (Editor: Liu Yidong)

The conventional UV curing technology has low heat utilization rate and large power consumption; the UV lamp generates ozone and dissipates heat, and an exhaust device needs to be disposed; the overall operating cost is high. In February 2008, Japan's Ryobi and Toyo Ink first introduced LED-UV curing technology. Show the ChinaPrint 2013, RYOBI printing press to support the LED-UV curing apparatus.
