In the printing color management system, in order to establish a consistent color environment, we must first calibrate the basic device used to observe the color, that is, the monitor, which is one of the most important links in the entire printing color management system. The display calibration is achieved using professional calibration and characterization software (such as profilemaker) and supporting measuring instruments (such as eye-one). 1 Setting of display calibration parameters Turn on the monitor for 30 minutes, turn off the strong surrounding light, turn off the system power management, and turn off the screen saver. After starting the ProfileMaker software, select the MONITOR display option. Choose the type of display you use, CRT or LCD, choose your measurement equipment, profilemaker software supports eye-one, spectrolino and other instruments, we use eye-one pro, then the software requires the measurement instrument to be placed on its base On the standard white point, calibrate the standard white of the instrument. Select OK, the software will prompt you whether to perform the monitor calibration function, select Yes, the software will start MeasureTool's monitor measurement function. The first interface is to set the target value of the monitor's white point, gamma value, brightness and other parameters. First, set the white point, which is the color temperature of the display. In general, the target value of the color temperature of the display will choose 5000K or 6500K, because China stipulates that the printing standard uses a light source of 6500K, but the international standard is 5000K. The number of K selected here depends on the actual printing light source. To set the GAMMA value, 2.2 is recommended for PC and 1.8 for MAC. The brightness is recommended to be 100%. The type of monitor selects the monitor you use. 2 Adjustment process of monitor calibration parameters After the target value is set, click Next to enter the parameter adjustment. At this time, you must use the measuring instrument. The software will prompt you to fix the measuring instrument on the display. The first is the adjustment of the contrast. First adjust the display contrast to the maximum, then click start, and then slowly adjust the contrast until the up and down arrows are aligned together. Then adjust the brightness, first adjust the brightness of the display to the minimum, and then gradually increase the brightness until the up and down arrows come together. Here, it is difficult for the unstable display to accurately match the brightness together. The brightness will move back and forth indefinitely. Carefully adjust it to ensure that the arrow is as close as possible. White point color temperature adjustment. Adjust the RGB value of the monitor separately, and align the three color arrows as much as possible. If it is really difficult to align, a green checkmark can also appear. If you still can't meet the color temperature requirement after adjusting to the maximum or minimum value, it is that your monitor is too aging and it is time to change it. 3 Characterization process of the display When the contrast, brightness, color temperature, and gamma values of the monitor are adjusted to meet the requirements, proceed to the next step. This step is the characterization process of the display. The software will automatically give 42 standard color blocks in turn, and the RGB values of these color blocks are given; and these color blocks are obtained by measuring with the measuring instrument eye-one fixed on the display. The spectral reflectance of the resulting LAB values of these color patches. This step is very important, it is necessary to generate the measurement data of the monitor icc file. After the automatic measurement is completed, you will be prompted whether to save the measurement data. After saving the measurement data, the software will jump back to the ProfileMaker interface and load the data just measured. When generating the icc file, the profile size option suggests that you choose to generate a larger ICC file, so that the accuracy is higher; select the standard white point (that is, the white point you just set). Then click start calculation to generate icc file. 4 Application of display characterization files After the software saves the ICC file, you will be prompted whether to use the generated icc file as the configuration file of the monitor system. If you select Yes, the icc will be automatically loaded as your monitor print color management file. You can choose from monitor settings / advanced / printing See the color management.
