Amusement park is big business. To prove this, witness the main listed companies behind them including Walt Disney Company
Amusement park customers are picky because they come. Newer, bigger, better, faster, and more thrilling are the slogans that have never left the entertainment company's vocabulary when it comes to their own entertainment and theme park attributes.
Recently, the privately-held LEGO Group teamed up with so-called Triotech, a small Canadian company that created a ride experience aimed at changing the landscape of amusement parks.
Meet the master
Triotech's technology, known as the master of art, allows riders to interact and control their adventure of taking only their own hands - no need for handheld devices.
NINJAGO is based on the story of four young ninja heroes trained in the art of Spinjitzu, Lego. Julie Estrada, Brand Ambassador Legoland Resort California Benzinga talks about new technologies and how it can change the face of big money amusement park entertainment forever.
Benzinga: What is the ride experience with NINJAGO?
Julie Estrada: This is a revolutionary experience. The children are going to take their hand with this and their only weapon. They are like training ninjas. They launch fireballs, lightning - anything they can beat villains.
This is a without using a joystick or anything else. They were trained by Master Wu Long who taught them the elements used, and how they could learn the art of the popular part of the Ninjago story of Spinjitsu began training. This makes children feel like they are part of Ninjago.
What's going on internally to make this new flight technology work?
This is the so-called master gesture technique, created by a company called Triotech. The sensor is on the dashboard. The small blast of air comes, feel your hand to cross it, which direction, you will be such a fireball will go this is the direction that lightning will go.
You are a control of it, it is you induction inside a square, detect it from there, and throw a bullet on the screen. When you start a shell, you can watch it.
Is this possible to use in the context of other types of theme park rides?
I think so. This is a dark ride when we say a dark ride at the theme park technology, which means it is an indoor ride.
Many other theme parks are doing such things, but no one has this hands-free gesture technology. I don't think this is going to be a trend, something new. We are trying to keep up with the children what is done there. We are moving towards children aged 2 to 12 and their families.
I am a mother. I have two boys. I know them when they play video games or do what they do online. They are also active in both sports and football.
How is this technology used in other areas such as education, health care or elsewhere? Or is it a distant bridge?
I do not know. Because this is not my specialty, I really can't talk about this. I can say that I think we are keeping up with the times and things are changing. Virtual reality is becoming more and more part of children's lives and adult lives as well.
Is there any other attraction such as NINJAGO ride in LEGOLAND?
Yes. There are outside and interactive attractions that are designed to test balance, speed, agility and creativity. All of these are designed to be combined with an interactive interactive video game experience.
There is a temple built by Zane where children can build different models NINJAGO. Kay's spinning mill guests can rotate there to test their speed. Cole's agility and Jay's Lightning Drill Rock Climbing test required warriors to get the fastest speed as they could hit different lit buttons within 30 seconds to see how fast they could react.
In addition, a lot of interactions with children are really immersed in their NINJAGO land - all ready for NINJAGO rides!
